LGV Route Through South-East France
At a meeting in Marseille, a steering committee met to further discuss the future of the high speed train line Ligne Grande Vitesse that is planned to run through Provence & the Riviera.
From the hundreds of possibilities, four scenarios have now been put forward for further deliberation before the next steering committee – made up of the regional council; Conseil Général of the Alpes Maritimes; Bouches du Rhône; representatives of the urban communities of Marseille, Nice, Aix and Toulon; Réseau Ferré de France amongst others – due to take place in December.
4 Proposed LGV Routes
Final plans are expected by 2014 with a finished project visualised in 2020.
The LGV, which will enable commuters to travel faster between Marseille and Ventimiglia, will form part of a ‘mediterranean arc’ linking with Spain and Italy.
